Emily Lim
Emily plays both jazz and classical trumpet, and studies music at the University of Southampton. Having played for over ten years, she has been a member of Wiltshire Youth Orchestra and Jazz Orchestra, National Youth Jazz Orchestra, and now plays with four university orchestras. Since last year, she has also been running Subb Zero Big Band with Matt.
Matthew Milnes
Matthew started playing the cornet when he joined Cirencester Band at the age of ten. He has played regularly with local bands including the AK Brunch Band. He took up the trumpet at the age of thirteen and is currently studying Music, specialising in performance, at the University of Southampton. He plays in the University Symphony, Jazz and Wind Orchestras and with Ocean Brass. He is co-founder and Musical Director of Subb Zero (Southampton University Music Students’ Big Band).
Linden McKenzie
At the age of eleven, after despairing at the amount of piano players in his school, Linden decided he wanted to play a more ‘unusual’ instrument. This led to him to take up the trombone. He is now in his first year reading music at Southampton University and studying both jazz and classical trombone.
Robin Langdon
When Robin first saw a euphonium at the age of eight, he was convinced it was the instrument for him, but it took him a year to persuade his parents. Since then he progressed through the grades and has been a member of many wind orchestras, and brass bands and has more recently started his own euphonium ensemble. He is also an aspiring composer and has composed many pieces, particularly for brass ensembles.
